Tanya and Adi | An Elegant English Country House Spring Wedding at Southlodge Hotel, Horsham
Updated: Jun 17, 2020
Adi and Tanya's beautiful and elegant wedding came together very quickly. They got engaged at Christmas, found the glorious South Lodge Hotel in January, asked myself to capture their day in February, had their engagement shoot (see the blog here) in March and then, the wedding itself took place in the first week of April. Even though everything happened so quickly, I really felt I got to know this lovely couple as friends, and it was truly touching to be a small part of their big day.
We started off in the Bride's suite, where she got ready alongside her lovely, soon to be sister in law, Krishna. The super friendly and professional Claire, from A Brush With Elegance, created Tanya's hair and make up look, which perfectly suited her stunning princess dress. This dress wasn't actually Tanya's first choice: after being let down last minute by a dress makers, it was in fact a replacement. However it just shows that sometimes these things lead to the best outcome, as she could not have look any more beautiful and her dress was just perfect.
Once ready, Tanya made her way to the ceremony room, as did I, and after a short delay (the rings had been unintentionally forgotten and had to be rushed to the hotel), the happy couple finally got to say I do, with two of the biggest smiles I've ever witnessed.
Due to the slight delay, we were tight on time to capture the couples private pictures plus the group shots and confetti throw before being called in for the wedding breakfast, as well as racing against the forecasted incoming rain! So I did my absolute best to capture these as quickly as possible but still covering everything Tanya and Adi had asked for and in the best way possible, and I think we absolutely nailed it. For Tanyas veil flip images, I enlisted the help of Videographer Leo from LVisionaire to flip and run! Leo and his assistant where there throughout the day and created a touching and romantic film. And a massive thank you to Toast Master Mark, who kept things moving during the group shoots.
Adi made a lovely speech at the end of the breakfast, followed by a traditional cake cut: their unique cake created by The Cake Barrow, included an appearance from their beloved cat and each tier was a different flavour and all absolutely delicious, which I can attest to personal having had my arm twisted into take home one of each by the super generous Bride and Groom.
The first dance came next, a fully choreographed routine that had everyone cheering and joining them on the dance floor once it had finished. We then took some time to take some impromptu additional family and friends photos with the giant L.O.V.E letter lights.
I would like to take a second to mention, the glorious flowers: from the bouquet to those decorating the ceremony and reception rooms, where beautifully created by Bows and Butterflies, and perfectly reflected the elegant and feminine style of the wedding.
As the evening wound down, and after a quick selfie with the happy couple as requested by them, I left Tanya and Adi, cake in hand, to enjoy the remainder of their evening. I said it after their engagement shoot, and I'll say it again now, there is a real sweetness to Tanya and Adi's love for one another and I felt so privileged to get to know them and provide them with images that will spark their memories of their special day for years to come. Tanya and Adi are also having an Indian wedding this summer and I can not wait to see the pictures!
All my love to you both, thank you again, looking forward to having that tea soon and hearing all about wedding number two! Love Annie xx
