Kylie & Matt | an English Country Garden Wedding, complete with Rain Showers
Updated: Jun 17, 2020
The wedding of Kylie and Matt took place back in June on a day that typified the good old English weather – sometimes cloudy, sometimes raining, and sometimes sunny! – and what a beautiful and fun wedding it was.
I started the day with Kylie at the home with all her bridal party, including the lovely Cindy who was not only bridesmaid but also the creator of Kylie’s beautiful hair (see the Chapel Hairdressing). I also took this time to capture some lovely details, included Kylie’s Paradox shoes and her stunning flowers by Felicity and LadyLissy.
As Kylie was almost ready to leave, I went ahead to see Matt at Slinfold church and await her arrival. Kylie and step-dad Baz arrived at the church in style in their lovely vintage car. As the music began, Kylies’ Dad Gary walked her down the aisle. The ceremony was as touching as could be, and after the signing of the register, we headed outside for some group pictures including one of all the guests, just as the rain started splatter.
We made away over to the reception at the gorgeous Jeremey’s restaurant. We had decided previously to do Kylie and Matt’s couples after the wedding breakfast as the couple were keen to spend more time during the drinks reception capturing additional group pictures with their nearest and dearest. So as the rain was still fairly light, we decided to press ahead with the rest our groups in the beautiful ivy archway to offer some rain protection, and luckily it even stopped for a while and sun came shining through.
I then took Kylie off for some stunning pictures of her elegant Stella York gown, brought from Blessing in Brighton. Matt’s suit was provided by Dappers in Dorking and he looked just that too. What followed was some confetti throwing as Kylie and Matt walked down a pathway lined with their guest.
The wedding breakfast was a scrumptious BBQ provided by Jeremy’s. Unfortunately, the rain returned even heavier, so it was a bit of dash outside for food and inside for shelter! The rain continued as the breakfast ended so we delayed the couples pictures for a little while hoping it would clear up, but an after an hour with no end in sight, the three of decided to just brave the rain! I always bring a few nice umbrellas for this reason exactly, so off we went into Jeremy’s garden and orchard umbrellas in hand!
As the evening reception progressed, Gary decided to do a last-minute speech which had Matt and Kylie in stitches, followed by the cutting of cake and the first dance. The gorgeous naked cake was created by Angie at Luffly Cakes. I stayed a little while longer to capture a few party shots, and typically, the rain stopped just as I headed off the night, leaving the Bride and Groom to party the night away with all their truly lovely friends and family.
Kylie and Matt, I had so much fun capturing your day for you – so much joy and laughter throughout, which I know you will carry forward into your marriage together. Thank you again for allowing me the privilege, I really do hope you loved your photos.
