Jo and Ben - An enchanting, fairground barn wedding at Preston Court, Kent

Updated: May 19, 2020

Last summer Jo and Ben had the most amazing country barn wedding but with an enchanting twist. Preston park is a fairytale of a venue - including a 17th barnyard, beautiful floor to ceiling mechanical organs, a working vintage carousel and a magical moated island to name but a few of its spectacular features.

We started the day with all girls together at the lovely Waterlock house cottage, where Jo and her bridal party got ready. All of the stunning wedding hair was created by Amy from Bridal Beauty Kent, whilst the make up was done by the bride herself. And as always, I took some time to capture Jo's beautiful dress by Maggie Sottero which she had discovered at Proposals, Crawley. Once ready, Joanne and the girls were driven to the venue in style by Quirky wedding cars, who also stayed until after the ceremony to make sure Jo and ben get some great pics with the cars too.

As is English tradition, we were threatened with the chance of rain, so the ceremony took place in doors but another great feature of Preston Park is that both their outdoor and indoor ceremony spots are just fantastic. The oak framed barn is bookended by the two magnificent organs and has huge doors that open the length of the front. Ben looked very dapper waiting for his bride to arrive in his Moss bros suit. The ceremony was full of love and joy, and following the official signing, we exited the barn to a glorious confetti throw.

The rain stayed away during the reception drinks, during which we snapped some lovely group photos in front of the main house as well taking some time to capture the newly married Jo and Ben alone, using some of the unique aspects of the venue as back drops.

The guests meanwhile were able to enjoy several fairground games as well as take a few turns on the stunning carousel, and of course Jo, Ben and I also took a spin. The games were provide by the lovely Tiggi Forbes of Tiggiwinkle who styled many aspects of the day including the signs and lanterns, and who also created Jo's absolutely outstanding flowers. If you are looking for a magical, vintage fairground feel then Tiggi is definitely someone you want on your team.

After a speech by the Groom, the wedding breakfast began, during which the rain finally started to come down, and remained in short showers for the rest of the evening, but it didn't stop the fun and celebrations. The absolutely scrumptious wedding breakfast, and the earlier canapés, were provided by Olivia of Just one Cook and left every plate empty.

After which we cut the cake, made by the grooms family, and the happy couple hit the dance floor for their first dance. The energetic music was provided by DJ Sparx and it was particularly great to see a female DJ rocking the party. Alongside DJ Sparx was the super talented saxophonist Si Sax, who added a new dimension to the dancefloor. As the party carried on Out of the Box Events arrived with their converted horse box turned woodfire pizza oven, which are hands down some of the best pizzas I've ever had and I've had a lot!

As the dance floor filled up, I stole Jo and Ben away for some last pictures at the now beautifully lit up Carousel and they were the perfect end to the perfect day.

Jo and Ben, I just loved getting to know you both and your little one, from the consultation, to the engagement shoot, the big day itself and delivering your wedding Album afterwards! Every moment has been a genuine pleasure and I wish you both a fantastic life together, filled with happiness and laughter. Don't be strangers, keep in touch and I'll look froward to speaking to you soon! All the best Annie xxx
